The origin and development of CHITEC

The first CHITEC (It was called   China Beijing High-tech Industry International Week) was authorized by State Council to be held in Beijing in May. 1998. It has been authorized to be held regularly in Beijing in May every year since the third in 2000. With the aim of forging international brand by the organizing committee, it was renamed as CHITEC in the fifth conference.

Up to now, 9 CHITEC have been held in succession and near 500 governments and science and technology and commerce delegation from more than 100 countries and areas and hundreds of high-tech MNC have participated in the CHITEC, the governments of 31 provinces, municipality and municipality directly under the central Government, Hong Kong and Macao, high-tech industry circle and financial circle have gathered on the CHITEC many times and carried out large-scale recommendation activity to attract business, about 2.8 million people have participated.

The exhibition of CHITEC is becoming a preferred window through which new technology products of MNC may come into China market and science and technology achievements of Chinese independent innovation may make for the world. On the exhibition of the 8^th CHITEC, there were 12,148 high-tech enterprises and scientific research academes of inner and overseas displaying their high-tech products which were one-up in their country.

More than 1000 high-level forums and special communion on the 132 special topics were held in the 8^th CHITEC, whose foresight, authority and high-level have become the brightest spot of the former CHITEC and 2900 person-times include famous scientists, economists, Nobelists from the 500 strongest enterprises of the world, high-level decision-makers of famous finance investment organization and ministers of China made speeches on the conference which introduce new science and technology achievements of the world high-tech development and advanced ideas of new economy into China and spread new policies, plans and trend of Chinese industry development to the world.

According to incomplete Stat., contracts, agreements and intents of joint venture and cooperation, technology commerce and products commerce of inner and overseas were signed in the 8^th CHITEC and its’ general money was over 37.8 billion dollars.

The CHITEC has become an international platform through which high-tech industry and correlative industry of inner and overseas display science and technology, get new ideas, pass industry information and link industry cooperation.

The new exhibition pattern which integrates exhibition, forum and economy and commerce items established by CHITEC is being exerted into many exhibition activities in our country.

By the cultivation and elaborate planning of the former 9 CHITEC, with its’ enormous scale, abundant content, extensive international participation and plentiful and substantial achievements, CHITEC has brought strong echo of international and civil society and high-tech industry and has become an important activity for communion of our international science and technology and commerce. By CHITEC, the complete recommendation of our development policy and environment creates opportunity and condition for transformation of science and technology achievements into products and its’ entry into market, provides market space for numerous elements of high-tech industry chain such as technology, person with ability, information, capital and management, impels commercialization, industrialization and internationalization of high-tech, promotes economy and technology communion and cooperation of China and other countries, drives the communion and collision of new concepts and new ideas of high-tech industry, accelerates zone economy development. According to Stat. of the former CHITEC, near 3000 agreements has been signed and its’ general money has been over 37 billion dollars; 460 overseas governments and delegation and more than 2 million people have participated; more than 10000 institution and enterprises of China and overseas have joined; over 3000 people have made speeches; more than 50 thousand traveling merchants have participated.
