14th CHITEC wrapped up at a contract amount of RMB 59.12 billion

A total of 78 projects on scientific & technological cooperation, technical transaction and industrialization were contracted during the 14th CHITEC, hitting an agreed amount of RMB 59.12 billion, an increase of 52.1% from last year. Compared with the previous, changes in five aspects emerge from this year’s event. Firstly, there are 18 large projects priced over RMB 1 billion each, which, accounting for 23.1% of contracted projects, are mainly those implemented in development zones and industrial parks. Secondly, there are 47 strategic emerging industrial projects, which, accounting for 60.3% of contracted ones, cover next-generation IT, biology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, etc. Thirdly, 31 projects were signed by local governments, accounting for about 39.7%. Fourthly, 14 projects were signed by central enterprises, accounting for about 17.9%. Fifthly, there are 14 projects about scientific & technological outcome transformation of colleges & universities and research institutes. (China Quality Daily, May 24, 2011)
