The 20th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) will be held in Beijing from 8 June (Thursday) to 10 June (Saturday) 2017. This year's event takes the theme of "Drive Technology-Enabled Innovation", instilling the concept of the National 13th Five-Year Plan and the spirit of Central Economic Work Conference. The Expo focuses on ”innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing” through well designed comprehensive activities, exhibitions, forums, business talks and e-exhibitions. The main exhibition area is located in China International Exhibition Center (Old Venue).

The 20th CHITEC will showcase high-end technological developments in the area of aerospace, information technology and equipment manufacturing to help companies increase their competitiveness. It will also focus on promoting emerging industries of national strategic importance such as new energy, new materials, digital innovation and smart manufacturing in order to drive integration of scientific technology and industrial development. The Expo will make effective use of the capital city's innovation resources to facilitate the synergy and development between Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and national strategic initiatives such as the Belt and Road initiative. It will also help bring together global and regional innovative efforts, and transfer government-industry-university-research cooperation results.

To commemorate the Expo's 20th anniversary, a series of events will take place to showcase the Expo's history and milestones, and how it will continue to help the country to develop science and technology, national strategic initiatives and build Beijing into a science and technology innovation center.

CHITEC is approved by the State Council, hosted by Ministry of Science and Technology, State Intellectual Property Office, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Beijing Municipal Government, organized by CCPIT Beijing Branch. This national event is held in Beijing every May to facilitate global discussions and exchanges on science and technology. CHITEC was launched in 1998, entitled "China Beijing International High-tech Industry Week". The name was officially changed to China Beijing International High-Tech Expo in 2002. There have been 19 successful yearly events and the Expo has become a globally renowned signature event to showcase domestic and foreign cutting-edge technologies, spread leading ideas, release industry-related policies and enhance global technological cooperation.
