Six Highlights Demonstrating Development Achievements

SeaWing Underwater Glider, the world’s smallest 32-beam lidar, Cambrian 1A processor and a large number of other Chinese independently developed technology will be displayed at CHITEC. The 21st China Beijing International High-tech Expo (CHITEC) will be held in Beijing from May 17th (Thursday) to 20th (Sunday), 2018. The preparation work is basically completed.

According to Ms. Lin Bin, Deputy Director of CHITEC Organizing Committee Office and Vice Chairwoman of CCPIT Beijing, this year’s CHITEC will serve the needs of national strategic initiatives and socioeconomic development, display cutting-edge technological achievements and core technologies, share new ideas, models, and thoughts of Sci-Tech development, and facilitate integration of technologies, capital and knowledge from home and abroad.

Mr. Wu Xiang, Deputy Inspector of the Department of Innovation and Development under the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that in order to give full play to the Expo and promote the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, CHITEC should serve the country’s major strategic plans and promote regional innovation and development. It should also serve the massive entrepreneurship and innovation initiative, facilitate exchanges with other countries and promote international scientific and technological cooperation.

Compared with previous ones, this year’s CHITEC has six highlights: First, it will bring together a number of cutting-edge technologies and breakthroughs in key areas, and promote original innovation. Second, it will focus on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei collaborative innovation to help create a new engine for regional development. Third, it will exert the cluster effect of the capital in attracting technological resources to promote the building of science and technology innovation center. Forth, it will highlight achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship and lead people to the future life. Fifth, it will demonstrate the integration of military and civilian innovation results and promote integrated development of industries. Sixth, it plans to build a platform for exchange and cooperation between China and the rest of the world to facilitate cooperation in various projects.

CHITEC has been held consecutively for 20 years and has become an important platform for the commercialization and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements. A total of 35,000 high-tech companies, universities and scientific research institutes have introduced their latest technological achievements at CHITEC. More than 5,500 contracts, agreements, and intentions have been signed, with a total amount of 996.19 billion yuan.
