21st CHITEC Helps Businesses “Going Global”

The 21st China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) has become increasingly internationalized. Currently, the participants include 17 delegations from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and 14 countries, including Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, the ROK, Lithuania, the United States, Poland, Slovakia, and Spain, according to Ms. Lin Bin, Vice Director of CCPIT Beijing at the CHITEC press conference held in Beijing on May 3. Ms. Lin also said that this year’s CHITEC will be oriented towards both domestic and international markets, aiming to build a community of collaborative innovation and help Chinese enterprises “going global”.

According to Ms. Lin, this year’s CHITEC will be a platform for international and domestic exchanges and cooperation in various projects, pushing Chinese businesses to go global through diverse activities. Among them, the 3rd promotion session for international marine technology and cooperation projects will focus on such topics as the marine industrial cooperation along the Belt and Road and Going Global strategies of marine enterprises. During this session, well-known marine enterprises will have extensive discussions with representatives from Germany, Canada, France, the ROK and ASEAN. The BRI business salon will showcase the investment and trade information of Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and discuss cooperation projects. The Sino-German science and education forum will focus on Sino-German technological innovation exchanges and seek more cooperation opportunities. The high-tech industries venue will showcase the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) to provide a comprehensive and open innovation platform for international technology transfer. The platform will include the resources that drive regional innovation and development, and help build Beijing, the capital, into an international business center with global influence.

According to the press conference, the 21st CHITEC will be held in Beijing from May 17th to 20th, with the theme of “Take the Lead in Hi-tech Industries and Facilitate the Development of S&T Innovation Centers”. In commitment to the new vision for development, CHITEC will serve the needs of national strategic initiatives and socioeconomic development, display high-tech achievements and core technologies, share new ideas, models, and thoughts, and integrate technologies, capital and knowledge from home and abroad, for the in-depth integration of scientific and technological innovations and economic development, the growth of new engines and the upgrading of traditional drivers, and high-quality economic advancement. The main activities will include China Science and Technology Innovation Forum & Themed Talks, 4 days’ exhibition, 12 business talks, and 10 forums.

Focusing on sci-tech frontiers, based on an accurate understanding of the development trend of science and technology at home and abroad, CHITEC will promote China’s homegrown innovations. The Expo will also create an enabling environment for massive entrepreneurship and innovation, and showcase the great technological achievements that benefit the people in manufacturing, information, transportation and education.
