Local exchange is an important part of 17+1 mechanism. We hope that industrial and commercial spheres in CEECs actively participate in cooperation platforms like the Capital Mayor Forum and the Round Table, benefiting from China’s economic development, cultivating more cooperation projects and gaining more achievements.

Deputy Mayor Lu Yan pointed that with the opening of China, Beijing, as the capital, has actively optimized its business environment, thus providing good working and living environment for investors both at home and abroad in recent years. Beijing is willing to play a demonstration and leading role in local exchanges in 17+1 regions and facilitate cooperation platform. Capital chamber of commerce of every country should also play a more vital role in 17+1 cooperation, building a mutual beneficial cooperation mode and creating promising prospects for future development.

The Deputy Mayor of Tirana stressed that 17+1 cooperation mechanism has gained fruitful results which are more effective than 18+1. Director Zhang Yongming made a keynote speech on Promotion of Import, Export and Trade between China and CEECs, the theme of this Round Table, and expressed that the Round Table Mechanism has been acclaimed and supported by governments at all levels of countries and capitals since its founding three years ago. Leaders of member chambers have understood each other better through regular meeting, exchange of information, mutual visit of delegates and frequent project matching, thus laying a good foundation for deepening cooperation in future. Zhang also posed four suggestions for strengthening cooperation under the Round Table Mechanism. First, cooperation should be carried forward under the framework of inter-government mechanism, providing robust support for further increase of trade volume. Second, major sectors of trade should be studied and high-quality products and services should have an access to each other’s market. Third, practical cooperation should be facilitated by e-commerce and small and medium-sized enterprises in CEECs should be supported to explore China’s market in a lower cost. Fourth, a solid implementation of cooperation mechanism between chambers should be guaranteed and cooperation content should be enlarged and improved.

During the meeting, heads of capital chamber of commerce of every country had a warm talk. They highly appreciated the opportunities and achievements brought by 17+1 Mechanism to CEECs and acclaimed the suggestions posed by Director Zhang Yongming in cooperation. They all agreed that dialogue, coordination and cooperation between local chambers should be strengthened, thus helping small and medium-sized enterprises in CEECs seize the opportunities brought by Chinese market and realizing solid and rapid development of bilateral trade and investment.

Athens Chamber of Trade of Greece and Romania-China Economic and Trade Promotion Association signed a Round Table Mechanism Proposal which enlarged official members of the Round Table into 17 chambers of commerce in 13 CEECs. The 2020 Round Table will be held in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina next year.
