“Industrial Powerhouse: The Success of China’s Manufacturing System” Book Release Publicity and Implementation of “Strong Industrial Base” Policies

Background:

China is implementing the “Made in China 2025” strategy to strengthen the foundations of industry and enhance the quality and efficiency of industrial development, so as to transform into a leading manufacturing power. Now, we have reached a new height in overall industrial strength and become an industrial power of considerable significance with a complete basic industrial structure that can satisfy general requirements for complete machines and systems. This forum is designed to share information about the Made in China 2025 Initiative, industrial policies on “strong industrial base” projects, guidelines on implementing such policies and projects, and the “strong industrial base” package.

Building up a strong industrial base is a core mission of the “Made in China 2025” Initiative, a factor that decides the success of the strategy of strengthening the country through manufacturing industry development, and a strategic, complicated and systematic program that requires long-term efforts. From 2013 to 2016, we had invested RMB 42.3bn in 276 exemplary projects, where over RMB 4bn was provided by the central government. The NIITA’s Industrial Powerhouse: The Success of China’s Manufacturing System, jointly published by the MIIT Publishing & Media Group and Publishing House of Electronics Industry will be shared and released as a new book in this forum.

Purpose:

1. To publicize and implement national industrial policies;

2. To promote industrial application of advanced, well-proven and applicable S&T findings;

3. To facilitate the transfer and popularization of major S&T findings, generic technologies and key technologies for industrial development and informatization.
