13th Circular Economy Forum

General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his report at the 19th CPC National Congress that we will step up efforts to establish a legal and policy framework that promotes green production and consumption, and promote a sound economic structure that facilitates green, low-carbon, and circular development; that we will create a market-based system for green technology innovation, develop green finance, and spur the development of energy-saving and environmental protection industries as well as clean production and clean energy industries; and that we will encourage conservation across the board and promote recycling, take action to get everyone conserving water, cut consumption of energy and materials, and establish linkages between the circular use of resources and materials in industrial production and in everyday life.

With the purpose of comprehensively carrying out and implementing the vision of innovative, coordinated, green, and open development that is for everyone, propelling the transformation of growth model, enhancing the quality and effect of development, taking the lead to form green production mode and life style and promoting green transformation of economy, the 13th Circular Economy Forum will be held under the theme “green development and regional innovation upgrade”. Government leaders from National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, experts from Development Research Center of the State Council, fellows from industrial associations and representatives from municipalities, industrial parks, enterprises and media are invited to the forum, exploring ways to reorient cities, parks and industries through business innovation and green economic development.

Commendation

During the forum, commendation will be given to those cities, parks and enterprises that made great contribution and accumulated a wealth of experience in the field of circular economy, with such honorary titles as “Circular Economy Model Cities”, “Circular Economy Model Parks”, and “Circular Economy Model Companies”, etc.

Criteria for commendation: Cities, parks and enterprises in line with the basic principles of circular economy, with correct value orientation, positive energy, and distinctive characteristics of the development of the times, such as propelling integration of the development of circular economy with urban development, industrial upgrade, transformation of enterprises; and with economy of scale, and possess relatively complete industrial chains.

Method of commendation: comprehensive assessment

Comprehensive assessment period: by combining the opinions of the public, media and experts with the voting scores, final model cities, model parks, and model companies will be selected awarded honorary certificates during the forum, and made public on the official website of the co-organizers.

1. Innovation in Forms

(1) New achievements of circular development technology and model park development can be showcased at the forum by such means as VR.

(2) A team of experts is arranged to conduct field trips at the representative model cities, companies and parks to investigate and research, forming a case set which should be submitted to the relevant department for record. 

2. Innovation in Content

Interview of circular economy innovation area and other contents will be added to this circular economy forum, making it more down-to-earth and appealing to the public.

3. Innovation in Media

Media interaction: integrated communication plan is adopted for the forum by tapping into the individual advantages of Xinhua news media, social media and new media; special columns are set up on the websites of China Top Brands and BJCankao before the forum starts to give basic introduction to the environmental competitiveness of circular economy and interview related industry insiders; live interview and report by Xinhua News Agency and social media with interaction on Weibo are arranged during the forum, meanwhile China Top Brands magazine will publish a special issue on circular economy, and there will be continued coverage on the achievements of CHITEC and the Circular Economy Forum after the forum.

Application of new media: Wechat official accounts, Xinhua News app, Weibo and other media will publish information of forum activities, with live streaming and interaction with the public to expand the reach and influence of the activities during and after the forum.
